The Dragon Touch 9″ Tablet PC exceeded my expectations of a “budget tablet”. Having used an iPad for years now, I can safely say that there is no comparison. In fact, there’s several things on this tablet that most cell phones today will beat – the camera is certainly one of them. That said, if you’re looking for an entry level tablet at a low cost, this tablet would be a good one to consider. We use our tablet primarily for the kids to practice school apps on, web surfing, email checking, and watching an occasional Youtube video on. Our kids are at the age where a LeapPad tablet doesn’t have enough power/apps for them to use, but I don’t want to sink the money into an iPad for them yet (nor do I want to share mine with them anymore!).

    SET UP
When I first received the tablet, it arrived with about a 75% charge in it. That gave me plenty of time to turn on and set up the tablet for use, as well as go through some of the features. The tablet probably took about 20 minutes to update, set up with wifi, set up with my Google account, and to upload a few apps for the kids. Set up was very straight forward and the tablet booted up smoothly.

    DISPLAY
The display on this tablet is okay, although falls short in comparison to my iPhone. The resolution is 1024 x 600 (same as current Amazon Fire tablet), and the display is decently lit, although will not work well outdoors in the sunlight. In normal indoor light situations, the screen works great, and the colors are bright and vibrant. I can leave the display at 50% and it’s bright enough to use indoors. The difference in brightness between high and low brightness is very minimal. The screen is large enough to watch movies or read books comfortably without straining your eyes.

    TABLET DESIGN
The Dragon Touch tablet is very lightweight, and is actually much taller than it is wide. The back of the tablet is completely plastic with molded plastic “stitching” on the back edge. The plastic backing is a little flexible near the center of the tablet and is very flexible on the opening where the speaker is. The tablet itself feels fairly cheap, but for the most part sturdy. I’ve dropped the tablet a few times on carpet (accidentally!) and it didn’t break, scruff, or get damaged in any way. There is a camera on both the front and back of the tablet, however there is no flash included on either side. There are openings on the top of the tablet including the charger port (micro USB charger), headphone/speaker port, mini HDMI port, and micro SD port. There is a small power button on the side, as well as volume control. Unlike the iPad, there is no home button, but when you use the tablet, there is a “dock” on the bottom of the screen that includes an icons for volume, back, home, page windows. There is a second larger dock on top that includes settings, camera, browser, apps, google play, app management, and volume as well.

    SPEED
This tablet works fairly well and can keep up with the apps and tasks both me and my kids put this tablet through. We’re not doing major work on the tablet, so I cannot speak how well it would work with multiple apps running for business. I can say that all apps we’ve installed, including Lexia, Sumdogs, and Tynker, just to name a few. Web pages load up smoothly and if you want to watch videos on Dailymotion or Youtube, the videos stream seamlessly. We’ve left multiple applications running at once, and it doesn’t seem to slow down the tablet at all.

    BATTERY LIFE
The battery life on the tablet seems to be quite good. We’ve used it on and off all day with the screen brightness at 50% and the tablet is just barely at 50%.

    CAMERA
This is probably where the Dragon’s Touch Tablet is at it’s weakest – the camera is pretty miserable. Unless if you’re in good light situations, the camera will most likely not take as good a photo compared to your standard cell phone today. I’ve included pictures of my cockatiel (indoor afternoon light), some flowers (outdoors full sun), the dog (outdoors full sun), and a clock (indoors halogen lamp light) so you can get an idea of the camera quality. As you can see, the quality isn’t totally unusable, but definitely not print worthy, either. That said, the camera is still WAY better than the camera on my kid’s LeapPad Platinum…as far as my kids were concerned, this camera is awesome.

    SPEAKER
This is another downpoint to this tablet – the speaker is pretty bad. If you have a bluetooth speaker available, it will make watching videos on this much more enjoyable. Using headphones also helps simply because the external speaker is not very loud, nor very good.

Overall, despite some of the flaws, this is a decent tablet for $60. There’s no ads on it like the Amazon Fire has, the Android OS is fairly powerful and can run multiple apps, browser windows, and…

The Dragon Touch X9 9” Google Android 4.4.4 KitKat Tablet PC, 8GB Nand Flash, Dual Camera, Bluetooth, Mini HDMI, Netflix was sent to me (free of charge or at a discounted price) so that I could provide an honest and an unbiased review.

    It works well.
It’s certainly not the greatest and latest, however it does not cost what the newest would either.
The Android install is KitKat 4.4.4 and it is lean, clean with no bloat or adware.

All feature worked exactly as they should for me.
It connected to my wireless network and stayed connected through several power cycles and reboots. I have seen some tablets in this price range that refused to stay connected.
Bluetooth worked perfectly, I connected it to a few different speakers and had no issues at all.

Storage can be expanded via the micro-SD slot.

It will be ideal for a first time Android or tablet user.

I got this tablet for my boyfriend to replace his older tablet. He absolutely loves it. For a guy who is not very computer savvy he was able to get it all set up, connect to wifi and do all his email, shopping, bills and such. He often uses it to watch YouTube music videos. I don’t think he’s explored the full capability of the tablet yet but for he basic tablet uses he is loving it.
I noticed it’s responsive and the touch screen works well. The colors look bright, it’s not quite as good as my apple retina display but it’s great for a tablet at this price. He likes it much better than the tablet he got last year. It came with a case and a screen protector and he really likes the keyboard and was happy it came with a case. He’s very happy with the tablet. For anyone that’s not expecting an Apple product I think they will be happy with this.

I got this product free for honest review.
